What A Mama

312_1274mama.jpg

Man. Am I lucky to have this wonderful woman as my wife. Beautiful, talented, fun, energetic, organized, adventurous, loving, motherly, nurturing, thoughtful, warm and more. Did I mention hot?

Here she is with her nearly 6 month old little man on a crisp frosty morning. She is only minutes from her double tall latte at the coffee shack south of the Fremont bridge.

Estella will have a hot chocolate and I will order a extra-large americano. The sun will shine brightly at a low angle that will force us to blink and shade our eyes. The crisp morning will feel warm and comfortable inside our nearly new Suzuki XL7. Blaise will babble with a toy along the road to my work. Estella will be asked how the man is doing and she will either say he is looking at buildings or he is looking at me. She will also remind us numerous times that she is drinking her hot chocolate slowly. It used to be that just as were passing under the Aurora bridge on Dexter we'd hear a deep breath indicating she had held her breath while sucking down the whole drink. So now we remind her to enjoy her drink and slow down.

I will get out with too much stuff to carry - coffee, lunch, magazine, bag - and ride the elevator to the 9th floor. There I will spend the next 8 hours wondering what my family is doing and wishing I could be there with them each moment.

Paint With Sponges

310_1074painting.jpg

Part of this craft pack includes three little paint brush-like sponges of increasing sizes. Estella was showing them to me and from largest to smallest named them dada's, mama's and Estella's. She found another sponge that was even smaller and called it Blaise's. If you leave her alone with her work, when you come back in the room she will be singing random words to familiar tunes.

Binocular Baker

This photo was taken with my Canon G3 held right up to one eyepiece of a pair of binoculars. The view is a partially obscured Mt.Baker with the U District Safeco building in the fore ground.

Red Space Needle

The space needle was red the other night. I need to buy a tiny, portable tripod to capture shots like this without blur.

When Randy comes to town, Estella gets ready with the "Wet-Willy" which he so thoughtfully taught her. Here they are at Grant's soccer game.

One Year Ago - Playing Farm

Here is Estella a year ago, playing farm. Shorter hair and only a few teeth. Now she punctuates her statements by using the word "actually" which is "Really silly, actually."

Estella received a wonderful handmade gift of the highest quality and crafts(wo)manship from my cousin Megan from Spokane. It is her very own couch and ottoman in the delicious color of green. Thanks Megan!

First Bites

303_0353firstfood.jpg

The little man has taken his first bites and, unlike his sister, is not turning back. Tonight, the third night of the rice cereal experiment, he finished his allocation swiftly and anxiously. My baby feeding skills are rusty, because apparently I was not quick enough with the follow up bite. He just seems so interested in it. Yesterday he was taking longer to taste the sensation and he spit a lot of it out, but today he went to work. Good man, Blaise.

Ancestors

Frank_Bentley_Lincoln_High.jpg

Blaise and Estella will have a whole 'nother set of ancestors that are mine "only" as in-laws. Here is Robyn's grandpa, (the kids' great grandpa) Frank Bentley, as a boy. I wonder what Blaise will look like as a young man in high school.

Google Is Mine

I was checking out my referer logs and saw that Google had sent some search queries this way. Here are a couple of Google searches for which clappstar.com is number one!

poke the baby
little homie
hipster haircut

I think that is so funny. What other short strings of text will send someone this way?

Update: Looks like Google is fleeting. I am still close to the top for those searches but not number one anymore. A couple more:

Supertramp logic
carkeek salmon slide
