Farm Toys

Estella can say "chicken". Our neighbors have six chickens. This chicken better watch out. Oh, by the way now she can reach.

Little Lady

Estella is fast becoming a little person. Tonight we went together to Dick's Drive-In and she got her own cheeseburger, which she almost finished by herself. On the ride home, I mistakenly gave her the vanilla shake to hold and she promptly pulled out the straw. When I took it away she let out the saddest cry which was immediately assuaged by some french fries. We laughed at the cats and she giggled while we played an intricate game of hide and seek with Mama. Then I said bedtime and she layed her head on my shoulder and I briefly rocked her before putting her down to fall asleep. Her normal sound sleep was disturbed by some cries just now. I picked her up and nothing seemed to comfort her so I gave her a drink of water. She gulped down about 4 ounces and I put her back in her bed and she was out.
She has a tendency to dance once in a while.

She now has the sense to pretend with her dolls and stuffed animals. Here as above she reads to her little bear.

Estella Explores

116_1697atthepark.jpg

Carkeek Park is a favorite place for Estella to roam around and play. She observes others quietly and then gets carried away playing by herself. When the train goes by she pumps her arm and says "too-too".

I tend to hover right over her when she is up on the toys or on the slide but let her roam far off in the grass or on the trail, careful to let her feel free to explore by herself.
She loves story time and is able to communicate more and more, repeating things and pointing to things when you are telling the story. Yesterday she got to see all the animals at the Puyallup Fair that we have read so many stories about, especially all the farm animals. She learned to say "Moo" and ate some BBQ with her Mama and Papa.

I just noticed in the backyard bushes there are some seriously big spiders. Wow.

Ready For Rain

115_1583readyforrain.jpg
Estella was all ready for our first couple rainy mornings this week. She walked down our sidewalk, paused next to a leafy green plant and touched the beads of water covering the plant and said "Ohhh". Very silly baby.
She has a dialect all her own. I feel like she is our little foreign exchange student. We get by communicating, but we don't speak barely a word of the other's language. She can say cat, chicken, mama, papa, dada, baby, etc. But 95% of her jabbering is totally funny nonsense with perfect conversational inflection.

Lawn Mower

Summer has been awesome. Everyday for the last four months, Estella has played outside around the house or at a park. Today we went to Greenwood park where she explored the new toys they just put in there.
She wears herself out playing in our own backyard.
