Hot Summer Baby

00306summerdada.jpg
Estella went to the beach at Carkeek Park, took a bath, played with the garden hose water and then went to Greenlake's wading pool. She is sporting her stylish new swim suit that certainly turned heads as she splashed and splashed.
This morning we beat the rush to Carkeek and had the beach all to ourselves plus a really low tide. We went way out into the tidezone and found a nice stretch of partially dried sand and we dug a hole, filled it with water and then filled it with seaweed. Estella could busy herself for hours sorting and tearing seaweed I fetch for her. Needless to say, she was one sandy baby after that.
Greenlake was quite crowded, but there was plenty of space for me to swing Estella along the water, motorboat-style, as she giggled and splashed. We ran into some friends and met some strangers and had a great day!

IKEA Estella

The kids section of IKEA was a blast for Estella, as was the couch section, bed section, rug section, etc. They actually have a lot of great baby toys. Here she is in a little toy house filled with kitchen supplies. She was sorting the silverware and would not allow me to pick her up to move on for about five minutes.

Little Hiker

On her birthday we went for a hike. She scooted around at the trailhead.

It was a hot day. But a perfect day for a hike. The Lake Serene trail is undercover about 80% of the time, so the sun wasn't too bad.
The first half of the trail is flat. Once you get to the beautiful waterfall the trail changes dramatically. It is steep and rocky. It is quite well maintained, with lots of stair sections built in to the steep hillside. It is remarkable the size of the trees that grow along the steep section of the trail. Five foot in diameter hemlocks and cedars dangle over cliffs. Their roots holding to the side of the cliff with all their might.
The lake is well worth the hike. Estella enjoyed the trek up, with a bit of help from snacks. She wasn't content the whole time in the backpack, so I carried her in my arms probably half the way up. On the way down she was asleep most of the way. She had gotten so tired playing at the lake, where she went skinny dipping. At the end of the trail we had to pack up our stuff plus a little baby!
We finished the day at a great Mexican restaurant in Monroe. She loves torillas and beans. They gave her a birthday treat on the house. She liked that!

Girly Hair

Her hair is getting to the length which allows for pig tails.

Today Estella wasn't in the best mood, and later she even felt a bit feverish. But Lex came over after dinner and her spirits jumped! He got her giggling and pretty soon we were chasing him around the yard with her laughing. They played together on the toys in the backyard. At one point he was lying down and she climbed on top of him, grabbed his shirt and planted a kiss on his cheek. She really likes the little guy!
Earlier she fell asleep in my arms in the Fred Meyer garden department. We had been looking at toys earlier across the street at Top Ten Toys. I got her a bouncy ball and a big marble.
