She is going to be a cutie
At the ultrasound appointment today, in addition to seeing the arms, legs, fingers, chin, ribs, toes and other baby parts, we found out that, though the baby was in a slightly scrunched position with its legs crossed, the baby is probably (80% chance) a little girl! :)
The baby was very active, moving around almost too much for the technician to get the necessary anatomical images. That is quite a good sign. The clarity of the image provided through the ultrasound is incredible. We saw the baby's hand extend and then close, the bottom of the feet, and at one point later the baby started shaking its butt back and forth. *Ha!* Incredible! Watching the video display Robyn was able to feel the movements she saw though they were ever so gentle.
Now for a name...

Robyn looks radiant
We had a fun time at both our work Christmas parties, and at the family dinner. Robyn wore a stunning kit that showed of her ever-bulging belly. I spaced and didn't get a picture of me and her, but I did get a shot of her shmoozing with the band, Left Hand Smoke.

???? BOY or GIRL ????
We are going in for the big ultrasound next week. If the baby is in the right position we might be able pick the more accurate pronoun HE and HIM or SHE and HER when referring to "the baby."
We might find out next week, but what do you think right now, BOY or GIRL?

Ha! Made it again
My 15 seconds of fame have been extended. I got two more pictures on the Mirror Project web site. Here is a great family Chrismas picture and a reflection in a Christmas tree ornament. I love getting published.

Winter music program
Robyn has been pulling together the 4th and 5th graders for a big winter program. It all came together tonight and the kids did great! The choir was especially good, singing two parts.
Here are some shots of the night:

Sunday music group

Robyn sings with a group during the evening services at University Presbyterian Church that recently put together a CD compilation of original works written and arranged by Katie Freeze, composer-in-residence at UPC. Here are some shots of them getting ready to debut their work to the morning services.
one || two
Here is the one I especialy like, because it captures the action of the moment. This is half an hour before the 8:30 service, you can see the pastor, Earl Palmer, had just walked in from the left, the choir was entering the loft, last minute sound check, early arrivals finding their seats, etc. I was there to watch Robyn and I had brought the camera for entertainment. It ended up being an awesome time, listening to the worship team complete with band sing out a powerful, poignant prayer... morning has broken at UPC

Christmas time
Time for a good old family Christmas picture. How about a reflective shot while riding the escalator in downtown Seattle? Turned out a bit blurry, the shutter speed on the Kodak DC280 can not be manually set, but the color and position is cool.
We had just been eating at Palamino and headed over to the Olympic hotel which was alive with the holidays, families dressed up heading to dinner, friends gathering in the lobby to go Christmas shopping, a party going on in the background, oh and the obligatory pictures in front of the big Christmas tree.

Working in the lab
Working in the lab can be lonely and monotonous sometimes. The little E. coli cells don't keep you company and NPR can be a bit vexing after the pledge drive. So I bring out the old digital camera and turn a simple experience into photo-journalist documentary art. Check out the research associate at work.
When I am not manipulating E. coli I take care of
My Christmas cactus which bloomed early this year and is beautiful.

Mirror Project entry #2
I made it onto the mirrorproject website again with another cheesy picture of myself in the reflective window I pass on my way to work. Here is the first entry.

Don't expect them to help
Cats are fun to pet and it is cute how they chase little balls across the floor. However, don't get confused and think they will help you move out of your apartment. Cats don't move.
